MAY 18, 2002. A FITZROY man has complained about a lack of celebrity tipsters to assist him with his decision-making process during the 2002 season.

Mark Fulton, 23, said he was only five off the pace in his office’s tipping competition after the first seven weeks and relied heavily on celebrity tips to help him decide between the winners and losers.

“Where are Burgo’s tips? Where are Lisa McCune’s tips? Naomi’s? Anne Fulwood’s? These are people that I know and trust and I want to know whether they’re going for the Bombers or the Blues,” he said.

Fulton said he was concerned that the Herald Sun, The Age and the Australian offered only 237 celebrity tipsters, including every journalist who had ever attended a game, as well as a few soap opera stars, politicians and identities from other sports.

“Bring back League Teams, that’s all I can say,” Fulton exclaimed. “If the newspapers aren’t going to feature knowledgeable tips and celebrity tips, then it’s time for Lou, Jack and that bloke from Geelong to come back on air.”
