Roman Abramovich comforted by massive wealth

Roman Abramovich’s disappointment after Chelsea’s failure in the Premier League and Europe has been cushioned a little by his massive, massive wealth, the Russian fahillionaire said on Wednesday.

Chelsea lost on penalties to lesser-rated Liverpool in the semi-finals of the Champions League, then a run of poor results saw the club fail to prevent Manchester United running away with this year’s league title.

Abramovich said he didn’t feel the failures quite so keenly as many other people associated with the London club because he was enormously well-off.

“I have an oil company, four luxury yachts, my own Boeing 767 and I pretty much own the north-eastern Siberian province of Chukhotka,” Abramovich told the Bladder from his gyroscope-mounted moon palace.

“That pretty much takes the edge off it, yeah.”

“Obviously I’ll be watching the FA Cup final on Saturday night. But if our boys don’t beat Man United, you shouldn’t be running around saying to yourself, ‘Oh, poor old Roman Abramovich, his weekend must be ruined’.

“I mean, I’ll mooch on a sofa for a while, but while mooching I’ll have beautiful maidens hand-feeding me the finest grapes and pomegranates money can buy.

“After that, I imagine I might kill some time buying some endangered exotic animals over the internet and then having them fight each other. They’ve just discovered a rare giant turtle in Cambodia. I wonder how that would go against a snow leopard?”
